(BEIJING, August 17) -- Day nine of the Olympic Badminton tournament belongs to Men's Singles World No. 1 Lin Dan of China and World No. 2 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, as they will compete for the coveted gold medal on August 17.
"Super Dan" Lin has collected two world titles and 22 World Grand Prix titles prior to the Beijing Games. He had an early exit in the first round of the Athens Games and seeks redemption in Beijing. Lin fought all the way to the finals without dropping a single game.
World No. 2 Lee Chong Wei, Malaysia's best shot at claiming the country's first Olympic gold, is expected to give Lin a run for his money.
The dream final that badminton fans won't want to miss will take place on August 17, at the Beijing University of Technology.
On the same day, the Mixed Doubles gold medal match will be fought out between World No. 1 Liliyana Natsir and Nova Widianto of Indonesia and unseeded Lee Hyo-jung and Lee Yong-dae of the Republic of Korea.
Battling it out for Mixed Doubles bronze are Indonesia's third seeds Flandy Limpele and Vita Marissa and China's fourth seeds He Hanbin and Yu Yang.
